From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

Thank you for joining me and the leadership team at Wednesday's meeting. If you missed the meeting, please view the recording.

Today, we enjoyed celebrating Go Texan Day at school. Our PK-1st grade students participated in a stick pony parade along the school hallways. Here's a video.

Students in Kinder through 8th grades should have brought home a letter about the middle-of-the-year Renaissance universal screening. Please sign the letter and return it to your child's teacher by Wednesday of next week.

Stay warm this weekend,

Jennifer Day

Nurse's Notes

During the month of March, HISD Nutrition will be serving Cheesy Fish at schools on Fridays. This is especially important for students with food allergies to fish, seafood, and shellfish. Cheesy Fish looks very similar to breaded chicken so please talk to your student if they have an allergy.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

We're seeking volunteers to mentor our 5th-grade students as they prepare their IB Exhibition Project. Volunteers don't need to be 5th-grade parents or families. In fact, we encourage parents or relatives of younger students to help out, so they get a feel for what their children will be working on when they reach 5th grade.

IB Mentors will:

  • Support and encourage your group of students
  • Participate in research sessions
  • Help locate resources: people, places, media, and information

If interested, please email Ms. Silva: Ana.Silva@houstonisd.org
