From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

What a week! I spent some time taped to a wall and I'm told that I should get ready to complete an obstacle course because, thanks to your support, we reached our $60,000 Wharton Eagle Run fundraising goal! Thank you so much for your generosity and continued support of our school. We are so excited about our new playground.

With the revisions to the HISD Ready-Set-Go-Plan, and as we begin slowly easing our way into having on-campus visitors for different purposes, I would like to remind you that all volunteers, in any capacity, must have a background clearance through VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools). This must be renewed each school year. Please make sure to complete this process on the HISD VIPS website.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jennifer Day

Wharton PTO News
We did it! $60,000 raised!

Thank you, Wharton community, for your amazing support of our Wharton Eagle Run. Thanks to you, we reached our $60,000 goal! We had a blast today watching your kids run and having fun on the field – we hope you did too. Check out our photos and feel free to upload yours!

During these past few weeks, our kids learned about curiosity, confidence, humility, practice, and endurance. If they haven't mentioned them, take a moment to ask them about what they learned. You can also watch the videos in your Boosterthon dashboard.

We couldn't have done this without the support of our parents, teachers, staff, and administrators. Everyone played a role in making this event a success. A HUGE thank you to our PTO board member, Laura Gonzalez, who poured her heart and soul into this event.

A big thank you to our t-shirt sponsors (below) and to H-E-B Montrose for donating water and bringing H-E-B Buddy to support our runnners!

On Monday, we will announce the top two classes (donations are open until Monday at 7 a.m.). Since we hit our $60,000 goal, Ms. Day, teachers, and staff will complete an obstacle course! Students will also get to dress like their teachers and teachers will dress like students. Plus, they'll get a crazy hair day for hitting our $40,000 milestone. Stay tuned for details – we will announce the dates for these rewards next week!

We can't wait to see our new playground become a reality!

¡Gracias! Thank you!

4th Grade Parents: Growth and development lesson

4th grade is about to study an important lesson about puberty and periods, which many children in the class are beginning to experience.

To help teach this class, we will be using materials from the “Always Changing and Growing Up” Program.

We encourage you to use this lesson as a springboard for starting to talk about the topic with your child if you haven’t already started. You, too, play an important role in helping your child navigate puberty with confidence!

You can access the puberty materials that your child will receive at www.always.com/pubertyeducation, and download a helpful guide designed specially to help parents with students support them as they enter puberty. In case you need more information, you can visit the always.com and tampax.com websites; and check out Always and Tampax channels on YouTube for educational videos about puberty.

Please see the following vaccination resources.
