From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

Thank you for joining me at Coffee with the Principal this week. If you missed it, you can view the Coffee with the Principal slides here or watch the presentation here.

Our 3rd-8th grade students have been working hard on their performances for our Black History Month program. I hope you will join us on Thursday, February 29 to see what they have prepared. If your student is performing, please note they need to be at school for a curtain call at 5:15 p.m.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jennifer Day
Principal

Retirement Announcement
Ms. Leslie Hancock | After School Program Coordinator

Middle School

As we approach the end of Cycle 4, we would like to remind you of the importance of staying informed about your child's academic progress and addressing any missing assignments.

One of the most effective ways to stay connected with your student's academic journey is by utilizing the Parent Student Connect (PSC) platform. If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to create an account on the PSC website. This valuable tool allows you to access real-time information about your child's grades, assignments, and overall performance throughout the school year. It provides a comprehensive overview of grades and missing assignments.

If you discover any missing assignments or grades that require attention, we encourage you to take a proactive approach. This weekend, sit down with your student and discuss their progress. In addition, we want to highlight that our dedicated teaching staff is here to support your student's success. If your student has any questions about missing assignments or need clarification on a particular topic, encourage them to reach out to their teachers via email. Communication is key, and our teachers are more than happy to assist in any way they can.

We appreciate your ongoing commitment to your child's education, and we believe that your involvement plays a crucial role in their academic success. Thank you for partnering with us to create a supportive learning environment for all our students.

Thank you,

Amber Akhtar

Community Updates
Montrose Boulevard Improvement Project | Call for Support

A group of passionate members of the Wharton community has been advocating for safer ways to get to WDLA. There are two projects that could help achieve this. More information about each can be found in this article. You can view a 3D rendering of Montrose Blvd. after the improvement project here.

We need your help to advocate for these projects, as there is a group sharing its opposition to these infrastructure projects with the new mayor. Our City Counselor, Abbie Kamin, has expressed serious concerns of each being paused or stopped.

You can show your support by writing a letter to local officials. Here's a template letter drafted by Wharton Parent and TRIZ #14 Board Member Mehdi Rais.
