Wharton Selected to Texas Honor Roll

Schools on this list are selected by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP)  based on students’ academic performance, closing achievement gaps among groups of students, utilizing evidence-based instructional practices, and having a defined system-wide mission of college- and career-readiness for all students. Nurse's Notes

As we make it out of this Winter Storm please continue to reach out to the elderly to make sure they are ok or if they need any assistance that you can help them with. Recall our elderly currently qualify for the COVID-19 vaccine, but are unable to navigate the websites. That is one of the main barriers to getting our 1B population vaccinated. Walmart and Walgreens should be starting to distribute the vaccine soon, so check their sites as well.

Texas Phase 1B Vaccine Priorities:

  • People 65 years of age and older
  • People 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as but not limited to:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
    • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
    • Solid organ transplantation
    • Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
    • Pregnancy
    • Sickle cell disease
    • Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Spring break is coming! Please keep up to date with CDC guidelines for travel. If you travel, please be prepared to stay home for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test on day 4 or 5, submit the result to me before returning back to school.

Remember if you had to seek shelter with people outside of your household please keep an eye out for any symptoms that need to tested for COVID 19 (exposure or just having symptoms), please keep all your students home until your results are back. This continues to help us limit exposure to their class and the school.

Speakers: To emphasize the continuous need to advance our student’s biliteracy skills, we are inviting parents and community members that use Spanish in their profession to speak to our Middle School students. We hope to emphasize to our students the importance of continuing with their Spanish and expose them to a potential career path at the same time. If you would be interested in speaking to our students, please contact Ivonne Aguirre.
