Nurse's Notes

Please help support a Wharton family member whose husband recently had a liver transplant. Their son is in 1st grade here at Wharton. Read more on this GoFundMe page.

The threat level has finally decreased in Harris county to ORANGE:

Regarding Governor Abbott’s executive order, remember that our children are still unvaccinated (except for a few middle schoolers, yay).

According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ”While 30% of Texans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the vast majority of children are unvaccinated. The Pfizer vaccine was authorized last week for children as young as 12. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are still only authorized for those 18 and older. School-age children have seen lower infection rates than other age groups. COVID-19 cases among those 5-17 years old make up 10% of total cases in the country.”

Please keep our students and staff members safe. Distancing, washing hands, and masks all help in decreasing the spread of all viruses and bacterial infections. We have had a significantly reduced number of student illnesses this school year, which is directly attributed to all of our hard work.

After School Program

View this information in PDF format

We are excited to announce that we will be offering After School Program (ASP) and Morning Care (MC) beginning Fall 2021. The After School Program offers language-specific homework support and enrichment activities for students in all grades PK-8. Morning Care allows for students to be dropped off early before the campus is open.

We know that the past school year has been a challenge for everyone, and we are now able to support our families through both programs. In an effort to maintain Covid Safety protocols, there have been some changes to the program. Please read the important updates below.

 Morning Care (MC) - 7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.

  • Regular campus hours: campus opens at 8:15, school starts at 8:30.
    1. Morning Care students can be dropped off as early as 7:30.

After School Program (ASP) - 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.

  • Students are picked up by ASP staff at regular school dismissal and receive an HISD snack.
  • Students have homework time with their grade level group
  • Following homework time, students will have an enrichment period with their ASP instructor

 Important ASP Updates for 2021-2022:

  • ASP DISMISSAL will be from 5:30-6:00 p.m. ONLY - ALL ASP students are to be picked up during thistime. Dismissal will be a “drive-thru” process. Students will be prepared and awaiting pick up.   Parents will NOT need to enter the building for sign-out or student pick up. This will help with social distancing protocols that may be in place, as well as limiting disruptions to classrooms throughout the ASP instructional time.
  • Club classes will NOT be offered in the Fall. ASP will emphasize homework/academic support. Students will still have enrichment time but will stay with their ASP instructor for fun activities after homework time is complete (i.e., recreation, arts/crafts, games).
