Dear Parent/Guardian,

There will be no classes on Monday, May 31 for Memorial Day. I hope you and your children enjoy the break and have some time to relax.

In the next two weeks, we have several exciting events at Wharton. We hope you will join the PTO Gala Festivities and our school's Super Soaker event on June 9. We will take this opportunity to also celebrate the promotion of our Kindergarten, 5th, and 8th-grade students, so please come on by in your car and have a fun time.

Spring 'Un'-Gala Events
Tuesday, June 1 - Wednesday, June 9
Leading up to and after our main event on June 6, we'll host some fun surprisesfor our Wharton families.  Last chance to join our Virtual Loteria or our Build-a-Wharton-Eagle event.

Parents of virtual students, please make note of the following dates and make sure you return your devices and textbooks to the school as outlined below. 

Technology/Device Collection
June 7-June 14

• June 11 (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.): PK-2nd Grade
  
• June 14 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.): All other grades

Please read this letter carefully for more details. If you are unable to locate your device, please see the letter for instructions to replace it.

Textbook Collection
Parents of virtual students may drop off their textbooks at the school between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the following dates. If you have students in more than one grade, you may return their textbooks at the same time.

• June 9: 6th – 8th Grade
• June 10: 3rd – 5th Grade
• June 11: PK- 2nd Grade

All incoming 7th graders must have MCV4 (meningitis) and Td (tetanus) before they come to school in the fall. I can even add the CoVid-19 vaccine to their record. If your student has already had these immunizations, please send the record to the nurse.

All incoming Kindergarten students must have completed their 4 year old shots (MMR, Varicella, Polio, Tdap) before they come to school in August. Please send them via email, mail, or drop them off at the main office attn: to NURSE DANA.

Save the date! Wharton will be hosting a vaccine event with the City of Houston on Saturday, June 12. They will be offering either Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations. I will know more details a couple of days before the event.

NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR WHARTON FAMILIES NEEDING ASSISTANCE WITH SCHOOL UNIFORMS. 

Uniforms will be required next school year. Due to the generous donation from the Assistance League of Houston, Wharton Dual Language Academy can support families in need by providing free uniforms for our students. If you are interested in receiving uniforms, shirts, sweaters, socks, underwear, school backpacks, etc for the upcoming academic school year, please contact Ms. Anna Garza at anna.garza@houstonisd.org for more information. The deadline for ordering uniforms is Monday, June 7, 2021. 

8th Grade Graduation! The ceremony will be held in person on Friday, June 11 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM.

We are excited to announce that we will be offering After School Program (ASP) and Morning Care (MC) beginning Fall 2021. The After School Program offers language-specific homework support and enrichment activities for students in all grades PK-8. Morning Care allows for students to be dropped off early before the campus is open. Registration opens on June 1. View the ASP flyer for registration and fee information.
