From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

As we head into the holidays, I would like to ask that you keep safety in mind when dropping off and picking up your students from school. Please, don't use your cell phones in the carpool lane so that you are fully present and notice our students crossing the street or getting in and out of cars.

I also want to remind you that Fridays are not free dress days unless otherwise noted. Students are welcome to wear jeans and a Wharton t-shirt or college t-shirt.

We're excited to be holding a virtual Holiday Program on Wednesday, December 16 with pre-recorded performances by our students. Please save the date!

Have a good weekend,

Jennifer Day

Nurse's Notes

Safety

  • HISD is still trying to hire a crossing guard for our campus.
  • Parents, please stay off your cell phones when dropping off and picking up your children.

Did you notice the fire lane was painted during the break? Please don’t park there, “minimum $500 fine” signs were posted. Two staff members have already been ticketed. The fire marshal passes by our campus daily.

COVID
We are still following CDC guidelines for travel, etc. Refer to the CDC website.

We don’t have enough information regarding Omicron yet to make any changes to the policy.

Keep up the good work! Not as many COVID cases in our school and many students are getting vaccinated!

Screenings
PK, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th hearing, vision, and acanthosis nigricans screenings this month. Feel free to ask me to check your child if they are not in these grades you notice a change.
