From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

Thank you for joining me at this week's Coffee with the Principal. I hope you enjoyed learning more about our school district from Trustee Judith Cruz and about our dual language program. If you missed the meeting, please see the recording here.

To help us plan for the next school year, please remember to fill out the Intent to Return Survey to let us know whether you intend to return to Wharton. We need all families, regardless of whether they're zoned or magnet, to fill it out.

This week we celebrated National Volunteer Week. I would like to thank every one of you who volunteers in any capacity to help our school. We don't know what we would do without you!

Have a great weekend,

Jennifer Day

Thank you to Ms. Rodriguez & Ms. Iglesias's Classes

Today, we helped our top 2 classes during Wharton Eagle Run 2022 celebrate Earth Day!

Wharton PTO provided pots, plants, and seeds for Ms. Rodriguez's 3rd Grade Class (1st place) and Ms. Iglesias's PreK class (2nd place) to decorate and plant at school or at home.

Both classes were instrumental in helping us fundraise for our outdoor playground, so they enjoyed treats in the afternoon and celebrated this special day with mother nature! See more photos >>

THANK YOU to all our volunteers! Whether you serve on the PTO Board, volunteer for a committee, or help out in other ways, we couldn't do what we do without you.

2022-2023 PTO Board Nominations: Last call to submit your nominations for next year's PTO Board. Submit your nomination by April 29!

Library Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help Ms. Torres at the library! We have made great progress thanks to your help! There are still shifts available if you're interested in helping. Please sign up here.

Any person volunteering at school needs to be registered with VIPS.

Nurse's Notes

🦠 There is a stomach virus running amok in our school. Please remind your children to wash their hands frequently! Also, keep them home if they vomit or have diarrhea until they are symptom-free for 24 hours without medication.

🩸Thanks to everyone who donated blood yesterday. We had 20 donations!

👓 Frame it Forward Program: Please donate any old or broken glasses to the nurse by May 11th. There is a blue basket in the front lobby.

🅿️ Parking safety: Please don’t park in the main entrance lot before 8:45 and after 3:15 pm. We have so many children entering and exiting cars and they are not always paying attention. You have a limited viewing area when backing up. Also, if your car is parked midway, we can’t see the children, and the cars stop too early to drop them off. If you need to drop off something, turn right at the main entrance to keep the flow of cars moving.

A big thank you to all our volunteers!

Houston Children's Chorus Concert

The chorus will also be recruiting singers for next year.
