September 2, 2022
From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

We had a wonderful second week of school. Our teachers continued to work hard to build community within their classrooms, practice class routines, engage in meaningful lessons, and get to know their students.

Next week during our Open House, you will have an opportunity to learn more about the procedures and expectations of your children's classrooms. We hope you'll join us!

Remember that there will be no classes on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Jennifer Day
Principal

Community: Thanks to all of the families that helped clean up the campus last Saturday. You are fantastic Avila, Kehr, Ramirez, Lepicovsky, Alvarez, Wright, and of course the leader of the group, Mr. Zarate!

Food Allergies: Please remember that some of our students have life-threatening food allergies. Please remind your students not to share food. Talk to your teacher and look at the food labels before sending treats to the class. Please no home-baked goods.

I'm looking forward to meeting you at Open House.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program helps students build on classroom concepts, connect what they’re learning across subject areas and apply knowledge to the real world. Watch this video to learn how IB enhances education through the eyes of Ms. Rodriguez’s 2021-22 3rd grade class and their yearlong class economy study.

IB 3rd Grade Economy Video

Our IB program is funded by parent contributions to the PTO through the ¡Juntos! fundraising campaign. Will you help us reach our goal of 150 families donating $50,000? To date, we’re at 16% of our goal with 29 Wharton families donating $8,175 to ¡Juntos! by the end of the school year. Here's how you can help:

  • Donate monthly for a year or the entirety of your child’s time at Wharton (Recommended)
  • Make a one-time donation in the amount of your choice
  • Double your donation with corporate matching

🍦 Classrooms with the most families donating to ¡Juntos! will earn an ice cream party.
