From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

Happy New Year! We're happy to have our students back this week and we appreciate your support in helping us maintain our campus safe.

As a reminder, Temporary Online Learning (TOL) has reopened for students who have to isolate/quarantine. Make sure to communicate with Nurse Dana about a COVID-19 exposure or positive test result.

Have a great weekend!

Wharton DLA Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association
Wharton DLA has kicked off the Kids Heart Challenge Road Trip and American Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association. Over the next few weeks students will be learning about their heart and raising awareness for the American Heart Association.

You can sign up your student for the Kids Heart Challenge (K-5) or the American Heart Challenge (grades 6-8), finding our school, and registering. Save the Date for Our Wharton Eagle Fun Run

Our 2022 Wharton Eagle Run powered by Boosterthon is coming February 14-25! Save the date and get ready to help Wharton PTO reach its goal of $60,000 to complete Phase I of our upper grades playground!

Your support of past Eagle Runs has already helped us add equipment to our Spark Park. We can't wait to show you what we have in store for our other playground.

We'll share more details and a sneak peek of our playground master plan in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!!!

T-Shirt Sponsors: We're looking for Wharton-owned businesses to sponsor our Eagle Run tees. We have sponsorships ranging from $250 to $750. Interested? Purchase your sponsorship here or email laura@whartonpto.org.

Nurse's Notes

The positivity rate for Harris County is 30.5%. 1000 cases per 100,000. See the Harris County COVID-19 Data Hub.

I have heard of a couple of new testing sites with no wait: 34th and Magnum, 701 Richmond Ave., the former Dancetown USA site on Airline.

Please test your children if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms before they come back to school. Please email me updates and results at dana.bethancourt@houstonisd.org.

Blankets & Sock Drive

Help our Middle Schoolers and 3rd Graders collect new (or gently used) warm and cozy blankets and socks for men, women, teens, and children of all ages and sizes. Drop off your donations in the Wharton main foyer between January 17 and February 4. Our goal is to collect 2022 blankets/pairs of socks. Thank you for your support!
