Dear Parent/Guardian,

Thank you for all your support with Wharton Eagle DanceFit. As of Friday, we have raised over $40,000 for our school! We greatly appreciate it! All our students had a great time. Check out our DanceFit pictures on Facebook.

In other news, HISD Superintendent Dr. Grenita Lathan announced this week that school playgrounds may reopen, so our playground will reopen on Monday. Please read Nurse Dana's notes for more information.

Events & Programs

🌱Campus Beautification: Thank you to the Melland, Nufio Henriquez, Morgan, Williams, Gorman, Ignacio, and Schmid families for helping us clean up our campus this week. We still need help trimming bushes and beautifying our campus, so please join us on Tuesday, April 27 from 4 PM to 6 PM (weather permitting). Please bring water, gloves, gardening equipment, and a smile!

Teacher Appreciation Week
May 3 - May 7, 2021
We'd like to provide our teachers breakfast on Thursday, May 6 as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. We're asking for donations of individually wrapped items for our teachers and staff

Wharton Eagle DanceFit with Boosterthon

We did it! With your support, we raised over $40,000 for outdoor playgrounds and classroom technology. THANK YOU to all Wharton supporters, students parents, teachers, administration, and staff for all your help with this fundraiser.  Stay tuned for information on celebrating our 3rd school wide challenge.

Congratulations to first-grade teachers Mr. Botello and Ms. Lopez for having the top two earning classes! 

We invite all virtual students and teachers to upload their DanceFit pictures to our google album link located on our website. While you are in there, please check out Ms. Pardo's 3rd grade video submission for our "Sports City Now" contest.

You can still make donations for your students and they will continue to earn prizes until next Friday, April 30 at FunRun.com.

Stay tuned for the next pick-up date for prizes. The prize report is currently having technical difficulties, so we hope to be able to deliver them again to students by the end of next week.

Wharton Spring Gala: Save the Date! Our Wharton Spring "Un-Gala" will take place on Sunday, June 6. More details coming soon on this adult-only event. We need lots of help with donations for the online auction, so please email usif you would like to donate an item or service or sponsor the event.

The playground will be open starting Monday with limited access

  • Only one class at a time
  • Masks still must be worn
  • Physical distancing continues
  • Sanitize hands before and after using equipment
  • Please review updates in theCommunicable Disease Plan 

HEAT: As temperatures get hotter, your children may need more water and possibly a hat for when they play outside. Please keep this in mind and make sure you send them to school prepared.

Mask Reminder: Please wash your child’s cloth masks daily. They have to wear it all day, so if it is fresh and clean, they will feel better about wearing it. If I see a child with a soiled mask, I give them a disposable for them to wear.

University of Houston – Downtown STEM Summer Camp
(HISD Student Application Deadline Extension: April 25)

STEM summer camp opportunity! The Houston Prefreshman Enrichment Program (Houston PREP) aims to enhance the academic backgrounds of socially and economically disadvantaged students at the middle and high school level. The curriculum focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses in order to improve student’s comprehension of these topics and emphasize the importance of STEM fields in today’s world. Program participants must commit themselves to six weeks of intellectually demanding classes.
