Dear Wharton Families, 

This week, Ms. Pat Selin, our IB coordinator, retired after 10 years of service and contributions to the Wharton community. We celebrated her with desserts and tea (thank you Wharton PTO) and wished her the happiest retirement. We will miss her! Ms. Ana Silva will now be the IB coordinator for our school. 

Please save the date for our Virtual Open House on Thursday, September 9. This event is a good opportunity for you to learn more about your students' classrooms. More details about how to join will be sent out next week.

We hope you and your students have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We will see you on Tuesday!

A few reminders:

• Parents, please do not send your students to school if they or you are sick.
• If you have any symptoms of COVID or test positive for COVID or were exposed to COVID, please send me an email atdana.bethancourt@houstonisd.organd Ms. Silvaana.silva@houstonisd.org.
• Documentation, documentation, documentation – please get a doctor’s note AND a negative COVID test result before coming back to school. Check with the nurse prior to sending your student back. Things change rapidly and there may be new guidelines we will have to follow.
• Get vaccinated!

Middle School PE T-Shirts
If you purchased a Middle School PE t-shirt, it was sent home with your student today. We still have some sizes available for sale in our school store.

Elementary "Vintage" T-Shirts
We have limited availability of "vintage" Wharton t-shirts for elementary students. You may purchase one in our school store. We expect to have new tees in all sizes by mid-to-late September.

Yearbooks
If you haven't done so already, please pick up your pre-ordered 2021-2022 yearbooks at the school's front office. 

Calming Anxiety for Middle School Students: Teen and young adult anxiety have risen in recent years. Covid doesn't help. In this 3-session course, Dr. Ann Friedman, Psychologist and Certified Mindfulness Facilitator, will give an introduction on ways to calm your anxiety. The course is specifically designed for students who are experiencing some form of anxiety.

Sundays, September 5, 12, 19 from 4:00-5:30 pm via Zoom.
