SUBJECT: REVISED: Wharton DLA Newsletter 09.09.22

September 9, 2022
From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

It was great to see so many of you during this week's Open Houses. I hope you had the opportunity to better get to know your teacher and learn more about your child's classroom. If you haven't already, please take a moment to review our elementary school handbook.

We have received a lot of questions about when our students can wear Wharton spirit t-shirts. Students may wear Wharton spirit tees with uniform bottoms from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, they may wear Wharton or college spirit tees with jeans.

This week's newsletter is packed with information. Please make sure you go through it and mark your calendars with important dates.

I hope to see you at Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, Sep. 14 at 8:45 AM in the cafeteria.

Enjoy the weekend!

Jennifer Day
Principal

Safety Captain's Corner

Safety Captain's Corner
Thank you for your patience with drop-off and dismissal. We have appreciated the parent support in the mornings. If you would like to volunteer in the PK/K area (blue zone), please introduce yourself in the morning to one of our staff members. It takes about 15 minutes to assist the students out of the cars. Sign up to volunteer >>

  • Please help us by having your children get out on the right side of the car for everyone’s safety.
  • Please have them unbuckled before you get to the staff member, so the process will go much smoother.
  • Please be courteous to the staff, they are doing their best to deliver your child in the safest way possible.
  • The doors open at 8:20 am. We do not have enough staff to monitor the children when you drop them off early.
  • Dismissal starts at 3:50 p.m. Please do not come to get your child from the office between 3:20 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. The front office staff is very busy at that time.

A huge thank you to 4th grade Wharton parent, Jorge Lombana, for our out-of-this-world design!
