Thank you for supporting our Wharton Trunk or Treat! It was so great to see all our students and parents. We appreciate our community sponsors for helping make this event happen. We especially thank all our parent volunteers that gave so much of their time to these events.

We invite everyone to upload their Trunk or Treat pictures to this album.

Don't forget that all Wharton students must complete a Student Verication Application for 2021-2022 in HISD Connect. Below are links on how to access the online forms. Teachers are offering students classroom incentives for 100% submission. Please help us reach our goal!

Thanks to your support, our teachers enjoyed tamales, conchas, and a fully stocked lounge this morning.

Bullying Prevention Week
Starting Monday, Oct. 25, HISD is asking everyone to participate in Bullying Prevention Week by taking part in these daily activities and sharing on social media using the hashtag #HISDBullyingPrevention. Be sure to tag @HoustonISD and @SELHISD.

Join our Virtual Magnet tour to learn more about Wharton and the magnet application process.

We’re continuing our ¡Juntos! video series to answer your questions about the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Wharton. In this week’s video, Ms. Silva, our IB coordinator, talks about teacher training necessary to teach IB and how your donations make that possible.

Will you help us reach our goal of 150 families donating $50,000 to help sustain our IB program? To date, we’re at 25% of our goal with 39 Wharton families pledging $12,725 to Juntos. Thank you for your generosity! Here's how you can help:

• Donate monthly for a year or the entirety of your child’s time at Wharton
• Make a one-time donation in the amount of your choice

Bonus! Every family who donates to ¡Juntos! will receive an exclusive ¡Juntos! sticker.

🍁 Fall Festival Events: Thank you Wharton community for your overwhelming support of our Pumpkin Patch and Trunk or Treat! Thank you to Jo Ellen Anderson, UMMC Care, H-E-B, and Frost Bank for making these events possible. We will share more photos next week!

🎃 Pumpkin Decorating Contest: Don't forget that you can submit a picture of your decorated pumpkin until Oct. 24. One winner per grade level will be announced on Oct. 29.

🍕 Little Caesar's Pizza Kit Fundraiser
This is the last week to buy Pizza Kits! Buy your favorites today and re-send the link to your family and friends who may have forgotten to order! Wharton earns $6 back for every pizza kit ordered. Help us reach our goal by Oct. 31!

Wharton's Family Campout at Double Lake Recreation is back! Visit our family campout page for more information and to register.

Our wraparound specialist, Ms. Barbara Banks, is seeking donations of new or gently used uniform bottoms (shorts, pants). Please drop off donations at the front office for Ms. Banks.

In another step to close the digital divide, HISD has announced that your household may be eligible for free high-speed broadband internet through a partnership with the Texas Education Agency Connect Texas (TEACT) program.

A limited number of lines are available and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

There are two ways to register to see if you are eligible:

• For the quickest response, please confirm your information through the TEACT Parent/Guardian Portal: www.TEAConnectTexas.com.
• Alternatively, you can fill out this form and return it to your school office.

After receiving your information, we will contact you to let you know if your household meets eligibility requirements and work with your family to proceed with installation.

The deadline to apply is November 5.
