From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

We had so much fun seeing your students dressed up as Storybook Characters today! If you took photos, please upload them to our album.

HISD's Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department is hosting a series of Parenting Workshops next week. Please see the details below.

Next week, we'll have a Día de los Muertos altar display in the school foyer, including an altar in honor of Ms. Melina Doig, our former assistant principal. Families are welcome to leave a note for Ms. Doig.

Have a safe Halloween weekend!

When you see “IB Unit of Inquiry” in a teacher newsletter or your student’s assignment, you know your donations to  ¡Juntos!—which sustain our International Baccalaureate (IB) program—are hard at work.

IB helps students connect what they are learning across subject areas, and in this week’s video, Ms. Silva, our IB coordinator, talks about how transdisciplinary learning extends to enrichment opportunities that are funded by your donations to the PTO. Your donations bring community partnerships—Houston Grand Opera, Art League, Houston Zoo—and programs like Writers in the Schools (WITS) and Recipe for Success to the classroom.

Will you help us reach our goal of 150 families donating $50,000 to help sustain our IB program? To date, we’re at 27% of our goal with 42 Wharton families pledging $13,675 to Juntos. Thank you for your generosity! Here's how you can help:

  • Donate monthly for a year or the entirety of your child’s time at Wharton
  • Make a one-time donation in the amount of your choice
Donate Today!

Bonus! Every family who donates to ¡Juntos! will receive an exclusive ¡Juntos! sticker.

Pre-K and Kinder

Help your student practice the value of respect by having them:

  • Use their words (and not their bodies)
  • Listen to others when they are speaking
  • Observe other’s personal space
  • Know when and how to apologize to peers
  • Use good manners and follow directions at lunch
