September 16, 2022
From the Principal's Desk

Dear Wharton Families,

Thank you for joining me at our first Coffee with the Principal this week. It was great to see so many new and familiar faces! If you missed it, you can view the meeting slides here.

Yesterday marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, during which we recognize the contributions and achievements of those of Hispanic descent to our history and culture. Be on the lookout for a variety of HISD events showcasing our community’s rich Hispanic influence.

Next week, schools throughout our nation are celebrating “Start with Hello” week. The purpose of “Start with Hello” is to raise awareness about Sandy Hook Promise’s mission to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. On Wednesday, September 21, we invite everyone to wear green. Green is the Sandy Hook Elementary School color and a symbolic color of change. By wearing green on this day, our community is making a promise to Start With Hello.

Enjoy the weekend!

Principal
