Thank you for your interest in volunteering! One of our greatest assets is the rich diversity among our families. As such, there are countless opportunities to become involved that could align with your availability and resources. Complete the Volunteer Interest Form below to let us know how you'd like to take part in making our school an exceptional place for our students.

Immediate Volunteer Needs

Check back here regularly for volunteer needs during the 2023-24 school year. Our current volunteer needs include:

🍗 Go Texan Day BBQ
We could use volunteers to assist with cooking and BBQ plate distribution. Sign up here >

The Wharton PTO Dads' Club is bringing back a beloved Wharton tradition of the Go Texan Day BBQ. Proceeds raise funds for the installation of water bottle refill stations on our school's water fountains. Lunch options are available for students, and family packs are available for dinner. All Wharton staff will receive a free plate. Learn more >

🏫 WDLA Magnet Tours

Wharton DLA will host additional magnet tours every Thursday at 9 a.m. until February 22nd for prospective families to learn about the HISD School Choice application and get to know our Spanish Dual Language and IB PYP programs. (Tours will not be held the week of Dec. 18 or over winter break.) We could use parent volunteers to speak with our prospective Wharton families on Thursdays through February 22, 2024. Sign up to volunteer here.

🏃🏻‍♂️ Morning Mile

Students in grades 1st-6th may arrive at Wharton between 7:45-8:05 a.m. to run or walk in the field before school as we implement the nationwide Morning Mile program.
