Whether you have only an hour per week or one hour per month, we have volunteering opportunities to fit your schedule. We value your ideas, time and talent, so please consider volunteering. Below you will find a description of school volunteer jobs.
Events & Fundraising
Organizes various aspects of the event, such as game booths, volunteers, sponsors, ticket sales, publicity, and working the event. Planning and work for this event take place from July – October.
Identifies local establishments and coordinates Spirit Nights to benefit Wharton. Year-round.
This is our annual fundraising campaign. Jobs include keeping records of donations, data entry, generating and distributing receipts and thank you letters. Planning and volunteers needed through December.
Helps with ticket sales, sponsorships, decorations, advertising, invitations, food and drinks for the gala which occurs in April. Jobs vary from leading a group of volunteers, picking up donated items, to setting up the day of the auction.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Help children in the carpool lane as they arrive at school in the morning. Shifts are 30 minutes long.
Parent Ambassador (Room Parents)
Assists the teacher in various tasks, including coordinating and communicating classroom activities, organizing winter and end of year parties, collecting funds, auction items, and teacher gifts. Serves as a liaison with the PTO Room Parent Representative. Send an email to Ambassador@whartonpto.org.
Assists in organizing and selling Wharton t-shirts and merchandise at the school and during school events. Contact Ivonne Aguirre to sign up.
Hospitality (Staff Appreciation)
Several times a year, we host staff appreciation lunches or breakfasts. Duties may include picking up food, decorating, set-up and clean-up. Contact Ivonne Aguirre to sign up.
Helps maintain the garden with teachers and other school garden committee members.
We need volunteers to serve as simultaneous translators during Coffee with the Principal Meetings, as well as to assist in the translation of written communications for the PTO website, event publicity and other written materials.
