Hello Middle School Parents,
As our children spend more time online for education and entertainment, staying informed and proactive about their digital lives is essential.
This week, I’d like to share a tip on how you can help monitor and guide your child’s online activities to ensure they stay safe and responsible.
Tip of the Week: Set Clear Boundaries and Open Communication
While using technology is a huge part of your child’s daily routine, maintaining balance and safety is key.
Here’s how you can support that:
- Establish Family Rules for Online Use: Work with your child to set clear rules for when and where they can use devices.
- Designate screen-free times for family meals, homework, or bedtime.
- Encourage them to discuss any new apps, games, or websites they want to explore.
- Use Parental Controls: Most devices and apps have built-in parental controls that allow you to monitor screen time, block inappropriate content, or limit access to certain apps. These controls can be a helpful tool for managing what your child sees and does online.
- Keep the Conversation Going: Encourage your child to be open about their online experiences.
- Ask them about their favorite apps or what they’ve been watching. If they encounter something upsetting or confusing, let them know it’s okay to talk to you.
Being involved in your child’s digital world can help build trust and ensure they make safe and smart decisions online. Thank you for partnering with us in supporting your child’s well-being, both in school and in their online activities.
