8th Grade Spirit Committee Updates & Upcoming Events
Hello 8th Grade Families,
I wanted to take a moment to share some updates regarding the work our 8th Grade Spirit Committee has been doing, as well as provide information on upcoming events and activities.
Under Mrs. Hart’s guidance, the 8th-grade students have been actively engaging in the planning and decision-making for events that celebrate their final year of middle school.
Here's a recap of what they have been working on together:
- End-of-Year Celebrations: Students have been brainstorming ideas that reflect their interests for the End-of-Year (EOY) field trip, 8th Grade Formal/Dinner, and EOY ceremony.
- Instructional Field Trip: The committee has decided on a visit to the Holocaust Museum, an opportunity for meaningful learning and reflection.
- Spirit T-Shirt Design: Students have been working on creating a unique 8th grade spirit T-shirt. We are currently voting on the final designs.
- Holiday Spirit: Students decorated middle school teachers' doors to spread holiday cheer.
- Monthly Spirit Events: Students generate ideas for monthly events that foster 8th grade spirit.
- Leadership Opportunities: Students are stepping up to chair various committees, creating valuable leadership experiences. - Kindness Initiatives: Participation in kindness activities to support both middle school and Wharton students and teachers.
- Teambuilding: The committee continues to engage in team-building activities that strengthen our sense of community.
Currently, the students are voting on their top choices for the EOY field trip, formal/dinner, and T-shirt designs. Here are the field trip options being considered:
- Great Wolf Lodge
- Six Flags
- Typhoon Texas
Once student votes are finalized, we will submit the paperwork for district approval. I will send out another message once we have the necessary approvals to confirm these details.
Thank you for your continued support of our 8th-grade students as they take on leadership roles and work collaboratively to make this year memorable.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
Amber Akhtar
